37. Conversion of Yasa
Following his converting the band of five monks, as Lord Buddha walked in an open space at Isipattana, he heard someone groaning in despair–What woes, What afflictions, Where am I, Where is the path? It was early in the morning. When the Lord went in the direction of the voice, he discovered a handsome young man. He was the son of a millionaire from Varanasi. He lived amidst luxury. There is no woe, no affliction, come, I will show you the way–the Lord said and exhorted him. Thus, Yasa was converted. When his parents found him missing, they went out looking for him and came to Lord Buddha. Unable to recognise Yasa as a novice, they enquired the Lord about Yasa.
